The Limestone Greenway, the County’s newest trail, was completed in the summer of 2019. The fully paved trail runs south from the City of Bloomington’s Church Lane trailhead for 1.7 miles to INDOT mitigation property on South Victor Pike. The Limestone Greenway project was partially funded through the Department of Natural Resources’ Recreational Trails Program grant awarded to Monroe County Parks and Recreation in 2017.
Karst Farm Greenway
The Karst Farm Greenway is a fully paved trail that begins at Monroe County Parks and Recreation’s Karst Farm Park and extends 4.5 miles north. The Karst Farm Greenway connects to the YMCA’s Northwest Branch, Ivy Tech, Indiana Center for Life Sciences, Highland Park Elementary School, and Grandview Elementary School. In early 2019 Monroe County was awarded funding through the Next Level Trails grant to extend the Karst Farm Greenway further north to Highway 46 in Ellettsville. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2022. Upon completion the greenway will stretch over 7 miles.
